We brought our Yara from Canada to France in 2014 as we intended to use her for the breeding programme in Europe because there is always a need for more diversity in the gene pool of the Shiloh Shepherd.
 

Unfortunately, we were ultimately unable to use Yara, because the results of her 'Holter Test' (heart test) were insufficient. The requirements to pass this test are very strict. But it was well worth the trip to Canada. Unfortunately, Yara died of cancer at the age of 9. Much too early, but we simply have no control over that.

 

Yara was a very beautiful and healthy dog. She was very sweet and open to everyone. Not over-alert at all and very quiet. She was very sensitive and sensed different situations flawlessly. Sometimes it felt as if she could talk or that she could explain something to us. She couldn't tolerate certain sounds such as the well-known WhatsApp phone tone. Then she always got a little upset. Her sense of responsibility was very strong, she wanted to keep an eye on everyone and keep them together.

When Bliss came to live with us, Yara became very protective when encountering other dogs. With some training we were able to quickly adjust this. We have always been able to take Yara everywhere, whether it was a restaurant, a terrace, a hotel or a busy market, she always remained calm. Just like a Shiloh should.

We miss her terribly but the wonderful memories remain. Yara has ensured that our love for this breed has only grown stronger.
